ABOUT THE ARTIST

Surround yourself with beautiful things, beautiful people, and beautiful things will come to you. This is the philosophy with which award-winning photographer JoAnne Schoepfer conducts her life. Her photos reflect her belief. “My love for photography began in high school, grew through college, and became my passion when I discovered the real joy of sharing my vision with others,” she explains. My approach to photography is simple yet passionate, resulting in beautiful, powerfully emotional images. Key sources of inspiration for me are: unique art (new or old), wonderful music, or great company. I hope to enjoy many years of joy and passion and I hope to gain energy from the beauty surrounding me.

An honors graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, JoAnne is Certified by the Professional Photographers of America and holds a Master of Photography degree. She is a three-time winner of the prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Award and has had several examples of her work accepted and published in the PPA Loan collection. She is best known for her elegant wedding photography. “I strive for a fresh, innovative approach to the wedding day, while still respecting tradition. I use black and white, as well as color and infrared. I hand-color touches of some of the photographs, and I blend classical posing with pictorial settings, and throw in a bit of photojournalism and candid photography. JoAnne describes her wedding photography as being comprehensive in nature. "Natural light is a much more beautiful artistic light then using electronic flash, and it enhances the subject properly." she says. Each piece comes together in a finished album that is as individual, as the couples and families being photographed. "This is the perfect chance to tell each couples story and I pull out all of the stops to do that".
